We were voted #1 in Illinois in 2012. Thanks to everyone that took the time to vote for us. We appreciate your continued support!

Market Vendors

We have vendors surrounding the Historic Woodstock Square on all four sides as well as throughout the park in the center of the Square. We are a Producers Only Market, meaning everything you purchase is grown or produced directly by the vendor you are purchasing from. For more information about our vendors, click the picture.

#1 Market in Illinois

We are so proud to be able to say we were voted the #1 farmers market in the state of Illinois in 2012 in the American Farmland Trust annual contest. We also placed 5th in America for medium-sized markets. We are so grateful to all of our Market visitors who supported us in the contest. For more information about the contest, click the picture.

Live Music

Every week we feature musical performances from local artists. The music styles range from country to pop to jazz. Many are solo performances but we also have several full bands. We've had performers from as far away as Germany play for us at the Square. For more information about our musical performers, click the picture.

Who Holds the Contest:

American Farmland Trust is one of the nation's leading conservation organization dedicated to saving America’s farm and ranch land, promoting environmentally sound farming practices and supporting a sustainable future for farms. As a vital link among farmers, conservationists and policy-makers, they’re focused on ensuring the availability of the land that provides fresh food, a healthy environment and lasting rural landscapes.

Since their founding in 1980 by a group of farmers and citizens concerned about the rapid loss of farmland to development, they've helped to save more than three million acres of farmland and led the way for the adoption of conservation practices on millions more.

The benefits of bountiful and protected working lands represent our best bet for a healthy, sustainable future and their plan to help America guarantee that future through comprehensive stewardship of the nation’s working lands is based on the following key programs:

> Farmland Protection is focused on permanently protecting farm and ranch land across America.
> Agriculture & Environment helps farmers and ranchers improve water quality and combat climate change while expanding their sources of revenue.
> Growing Local supports farmers and communities in sustaining local agriculture while strengthening America’s food and farming systems.

Who Votes:

We Need You! We count on our wonderfully dedicated market visitors and shoppers to vote for us each year. Votes are received all across the country and we compete against hundreds of markets nationwide. Votes are submitted via an on-line form on this page that is directly connected to the American Farmland Trust website or you can vote on their site directly as well. The Woodstock Farmers Market asks our visitors throughout the market season to vote via on-line campaigning as well as by providing on-site laptops for voting during the markets themselves at various times during the voting season. Votes are collected from June 1st thru August 31st at midnight. Everyone can vote just once for each market that they support. It is not mandatory for voters to donate to American Farmland Trust for their vote to count.

What Happens If We Win:

Many of the benefits of winning are not material in nature. Winning this contest brings notoriety to the market which leads to increased tourism in the area, an increased visitor presence at the market which benefits all of the farmers and vendors. It also assists the market in obtaining the grants necessary to keep the market as wonderful as it is with all the benefits our customers have come to enjoy such as the LINK Plus Bonus Program and fee-free credit card use at the market.

At the end of the contest, one small, medium, large, and boutique, farmers market will win the title of “America’s Favorite Farmers Market” for 2012.
There will be four national winners and each will receive a farmers market promotional package to help grow their market. The package includes:

> A feature story on the award winning food site Epicurious.com
> A special logo for the exclusive use of the winning markets
> Support convening key stakeholders at the event
> A print run of 5,000 postcard or flyers to promote the winning market in their community
> National press release announcing the winning markets
> 500 totebags with the America’s Favorite Farmers Markets logo and the No Farms No Food® message to give away to customers
> An outdoor banner to hang-up in the market
> 200 copies of our magazine American Farmland with a feature story on the winning markets

The categories are based on the number of vendors the farmers market has.
